Stina Vina Plavac Mali

🛥️ It started with a ferry ride - a ferry from Split, Croatia to Brac Island. We had no idea what to expect, but we went for a reason: to visit a winery whose wine we had fallen in love with while in Croatia. It just so happened that the winery was only a short distance from where we were staying, so off we went.

😍 We arrived at a gorgeous island full of restaurants and beautiful beaches, completely astounded that we never would've discovered this island if it weren't for the wine! We walked slowly along the coast, taking in as many sights as we could. And then, there it was: the home of Stina Winery.

🪨 The name 'Stina' comes from the fields of white rocks that are found throughout the island, and they are represented everywhere inside the tasting room. The room is located only a few short steps to the sea - literally. In fact, it's believed to be the closest in the world to the actual sea, which enabled workers in the old days to simply roll the barrels directly from land to ship. Stina's vineyards on the island are in the most extreme locations - in places the gradient exceeds 45° with vines planted at up to 500m above sea level. It's what makes their wines so special, especially my favorite of their line: the Plavac Mali Majstor. It is dark, herbal, and spicy, and represents the best of what made me fall in love with Plavac Mali wine in the first place.
